Manage Your Website With AI

Most small business owners fall into one of two traps after their site launches: they either pay a developer every time they want to change a word, or they avoid touching it at all because the back end feels like a minefield. There’s a third option. I set you up with an AI-assisted workflow so you can manage your own site – write blog posts, update pages, make changes – without needing to call anyone.

What This Actually Is

The setup runs on Claude AI – specifically Claude Code, an AI assistant that can read your website files, suggest edits, write content, and make changes without you needing to know how to code. You’ll need your own Claude Pro account to use it – current pricing is on their site. I set up your site so it’s connected to GitHub, which acts as a version-controlled backup of everything. Every change is tracked, every version is recoverable, and the AI has the full context of your site to work with.

You end up with a setup where you describe what you want – “write a blog post about our new service” or “update the pricing on the services page” – and the AI drafts it, you review it, and it goes live. No developer in the loop for routine updates. And even if you don’t have regular site changes, the setup is useful on its own: blog posts, social media captions, email drafts – because your site context and brand voice are already loaded into the workflow, everything it produces fits.

How It Works With WordPress

WordPress is the right fit for this when you have a site you’re managing regularly – service pages, a blog, content that changes. The setup involves connecting your WordPress site to a GitHub repository so your theme and content files have a home outside of just the WordPress database. From there, Claude Code can read your existing pages and posts, understand your site’s structure and tone, and help you write new content that fits.

In practice: you open Claude Code, tell it what you need, it drafts the content or changes, you review and approve, and it pushes to your site. Writing a blog post that’s properly formatted, tagged, and SEO-structured goes from a multi-hour task to a quick review session.

I handle the initial setup – GitHub integration, Claude configuration, and walking you through the workflow until it’s comfortable. More on how I build WordPress sites here.

One thing it doesn’t replace: your judgment. The AI drafts, structures, and formats – you’re the editor. It knows your site but it doesn’t know your business the way you do. That’s actually the right division of labour. I covered how this works in practice in this post on using AI for content without losing your voice.

How It Works With Static Sites

For a static site hosted on GitHub Pages or Cloudflare Pages, this is even simpler. The files are already in GitHub – HTML, CSS, maybe some JavaScript. Claude Code can read the whole site, make edits, add new sections, or write new pages, and push changes directly. No database, no CMS, no plugin conflicts. You change something, it updates within minutes.

This works especially well for landing pages and campaign pages where you want to tweak copy based on how things are performing, without waiting on a developer.

Blog Posting and SEO

Consistent blogging is one of the highest-ROI things a small business can do for local SEO – but it only works if you actually publish regularly. Most businesses start strong and trail off because writing takes time and the process feels heavy. An AI-assisted workflow removes most of that friction.

You bring the expertise and the experience – the stuff only you know because you’ve been doing this work for years. The AI handles structure, drafting, formatting, and SEO basics. The result is content that genuinely sounds like you because it’s built from what you tell it, not generated from scratch. I wrote more about how that workflow actually functions in this post on AI, E-E-A-T, and keeping your voice.

Who This Is For

  • Small business owners who want to manage their own site but keep handing it off because it feels complicated
  • Businesses that know they should be blogging for SEO but can’t sustain the time commitment without help
  • Anyone who’s paid a developer $150 to change a phone number and would like to not do that again
  • New site clients who want to stay hands-on after launch
